Overview

Walnut Avenue Christian Community Preschool (WACCP) offers half day programs for ages 15 months to 5 years in the morning as well as Lunch Bunch and Extended Care in the afternoon .  The preschool was established in 1976, with an average length of teaching service of over 10 years. All of our teachers are credentialed and certified Early Childhood Educators. Our teacher/child ratio is 1:8. We are a current member in good standing with the Professional Association for Childhood Education. The Department of Health for the State of California is the licensing agent.

WACCP is a non-profit organization. Our affiliation with the Walnut Avenue United Methodist Church allows us to keep tuition affordable.

All religious and cultural backgrounds are welcome!

Our program is highly individualized, offering a wide range of materials and utilization of ideas and experiences from several schools of educational thought.

A child is free to work independently or in groups according to his developmental level. There are learning stations for a broad range of science, music, art, creative drama, and pre-math and pre-reading on sequentials levels. A child selects his work independently on his own growth schedule.

Developing a good self-image is important to the child. This image grows as he or she learns new skills, develops self-control, and learns to assume responsibilities for choices, while following through his or her needs and ideas.

Each child is valued as an individual. A feeling of God's love for families and all people is on going in loving, caring relationships with other children and a well-trained staff.

Affiliated with the Walnut Avenue United Methodist Church. The school is operated for preschool age children on a non-discriminatory basis, according equal treatment without regard to race, color, religion or national origin.
